Malachi describes the true people of God as those who fear the LORD and who esteem His name (Malachi 3:16). Centuries later, the apostle John, in a vision of the martyred saints in heaven, heard similar language proclaimed in the heavenly worship of God; "Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed" (Revelation 15:4). This description of the faithful is consistent across the pages of Scripture; "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever" (Psalm 110:10).

Biblical wisdom is a complex and multifaceted concept but it can be summarized as follows; wisdom is living with skill, discipline, and discernment as holy, righteous, loving and faithful citizens of the Kingdom of God through knowing, understanding, and obeying the word of God. In this sermon series we will survey the OT wisdom literature in a purposeful and focused way in order to discover how at the most practical level we can and ought to live day by day for the Lord.
