The Details
The basics of belief are enough to start a person on their Christian journey but the details are needed to guide, strengthen, and grow us in our spiritual pilgrimage through this life. The Scriptures regularly link the spiritual growth of believers to their growth in knowledge of God’s Word. It is the Holy Spirit who guides and sanctifies us, but He does so normally through the ministry of the Word.
We, believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the inspired Word of God, which proclaims the good news of God’s creation and redemption through Jesus Christ. Acknowledging the authority of God’s Word, we submit to it in all matters of life and faith. We agree with the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy.
We affirm three Reformed confessions: the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort; as well as three Presbyterian confessions: the Westminster Confession, the Larger Catechism, and the Shorter Catechism as historic Reformed expressions of the Christian faith. Subordinate to Scripture, these confessions organize, summarize, and explain the doctrines which are presented in the Word of God. As when they were first written, these confessions continue to summarize the way we understand Scripture, assist the way we live in response to the gospel, and locate us within the larger body of Christ. These confessions are linked below so that you can begin to explore the details of what we believe.
